Following the latest public health directions from the Victorian Government, the ATW will reopen to the public from Tuesday 10 November 2020.

We offer 2 viewing sessions each capped at 4 attendees Tuesday to Friday:
Session 1: 11 am – 12.30 pm
Session 2: 1.30 pm – 3 pm

We ask that you plan ahead and book your visit in advance. You can secure a viewing session by emailing us at or calling the ATW on (03) 9699 7885.

To ensure your visit is safe and stress-free we have implemented a range of hygiene and physical-distancing measures, including limiting the number of visitors during each viewing session and providing temperature checks upon entry. Please note that the wearing of a facial mask that covers both the mouth and nose is mandatory in the state of Victoria. If you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a mask please let ATW staff know when you make your booking.

Visitors: The ATW will close to visitors from 5pm Friday 18 December 2020, and reopens from 10am Tuesday 12 January 2021.
Yarn store: Online and phone orders must be placed 5pm Thursday 17 December 2020 to guarantee dispatch prior to Christmas. Online and phone order fulfillments will resume 9am Monday 4 January 2021.
Tapestry sales: Tapestry sales will remain available by appointment only until 5pm Wednesday 23 December 2020. To arrange an appointment please contact the ATW via or phone (03) 9699 7885.

The ATW is closed on all Victorian public holidays.
The ATW administration office (for enquiries and deliveries) is open Mondays – Fridays, 10am – 5pm.
Due to COVID-19 our guided tours are currently suspended.
During your visit you will have an opportunity to observe our weavers at work on tapestries from our mezzanine, and to look down into the colour laboratory where the yarns are dyed for production. ​The ATW has two galleries which feature curated exhibitions of tapestries, textiles and contemporary art on a rotating basis. We have also have a shop on site where we sell our exclusive yarns, with a colour range of 368 colours, as well as ATW cards, puzzles and books.

Public Transport: Take the No 1 tram (South Melbourne Beach) in Swanston Street and alight at stop 24 or take the No 12 tram (St Kilda Beach) in Collins Street and alight at stop 129.

Parking: Most of the parking around the ATW is one or two hour metered parking. Parking at the nearby South Melbourne Market is free on market days.
