Tour the ATW

While we are unable to host our much loved guided tours, as delivered by our fantastic voluntary guides, we are pleased to provide a new virtual experience.

Captured earlier this year, the tour explores the ATW just as the weavers had completed weaving 'Hear the Plant Song', and 'The Royal Harvest' finds itself well and truly established on the loom. The tour also lets you explore our annual artist in residence group show 'AIR19'.

Ticketing for our weekly guided tours contributes greatly to the ATW's annual income. To assist the ATW during this challenging time, we ask that viewers with the capacity to do so make a donation of $10 – the cost of our usual tour ticket.

Thank you to Ignition Immersive and the City of Port Phillip for their generous support of this project.

Due to COVID-19 in-house guided tours of the ATW have been paused until further notice.

Tour are held weekly on Wednesdays at 11am and Thursdays at 2pm.
Admission: $10 per person

During the tour you will also have an opportunity to observe the weavers at work from our mezzanine, and to look down into the colour laboratory where the yarns are dyed for production. The ATW has two galleries which feature curated exhibitions of tapestries, textiles and contemporary art on a rotating basis. We have also have a shop on site where we sell our exclusive yarns, with a colour range of 368 colours, as well as ATW cards, jigsaw puzzles and books.

Bookings are essential and must be made 48 hours in advance.
Book via phone +613 9699 7885 or email contact@austapestry.com.au
Alternative times and large groups can generally be accommodated upon request subject to availability. Tours run for approximately one hour.

Please note - the mezzanine viewing platform is at the top of several stairs and is not wheelchair-accessible. If you require a wheelchair or walker, our friendly staff can arrange for you to watch the weavers from the workshop floor. Visitors are welcome to come to the ATW at any time from Tuesday to Friday 10am-5pm. Entry is by gold coin donation.
