The Australian Tapestry Workshop is thrilled to announce the winners for the 2024 Kate Derum and Irene Davies International Tapestry Awards, celebrating excellence and creativity in contemporary tapestry.

The Kate Derum Award honours Kate Derum and her significant contribution to tapestry as an artist, weaver, teacher, mentor and Studio Manager of the ATW. Generously supported by Susan Morgan, the award is open to all professional Australian and International tapestry artists. The Irene Davies Award was established to support early-career weavers in the first five years of their tapestry practice. The Award is generously supported by Alayne Davies, in memory of her mother Irene Davies, a tapestry enthusiast and avid supporter of the ATW. ⁠ 

This year the Kate Derum Award attracted 123 entries with 87 finalists from 17 countries. 83 entries were received for the Irene Davies Awards with 51 finalists representing 17 countries. 

The winners were be selected by a panel including Artist Tai Snaith, Artist Jenna Lee (Gulumerridjin (Larrakia), Wardaman & KarraJarri) and ATW Studio Manager Rebecca Jobson.
