Deborah is a Yorta Yorta soprano, composer, and academic who is the founder and artistic director of Short Black Opera (SBO). They're collaborating on the 'Woven Song Embassy Tapestry Project' which features nine new musical compositions by Deborah Cheetham in response to nine tapestries woven by the Australian Tapestry Workshop and on display in Australia High Commissions and Embassies around the world.

Deborah has premiered the first three parts of this project: 'My Mother’s Country' in Tokyo, 'Catching Breath' in Singapore, and 'Article 27' in Mumbai and New Delhi. A Gala Concert of all nine compositions is planned for the Melbourne Recital Centre in 2021. Interview starts at 17.35.
