Sangeeta Sandrasegar
Best known for her delicate paper cut-outs, Sandrasegar’s practice includes watercolour, drawing, sculpture, video, embroidery, and printmaking. Drawing from her upbringing in Australia and Malaysia, as well as her Indian and Malaysian ancestry, Sandrasegar explores the relationship between migrant communities and homelands, giving voice to the identities of people on the margins of society.
During her residency, Sangeeta is working closely with our natural dyes expert, Heather Thomas, to produce hand-dyed textile works for an upcoming exhibition and public art commission.
Rosie O’Brien
Rosie O’Brien is an emerging artist working with paper, digital animation, and textiles. She draws inspiration from the rich colours and forms found in botany, approaching her work with delicate intimacy. O’Brien (b. 1974) has worked in the Arts Project Australia studio since 2015.
During her residency, Rosie will be working on translating one of her botanical drawings into tapestry and embroidery. She has been collaborating closely with ATW weavers to learn how to incorporate tapestry into her existing textile practice.
