Roger Kemp was one of the earliest artists to work with the Tapestry Workshop. His visual language of symbolic forms made for a dynamic translation into tapestry. Kemp’s tapestry Images was commissioned in 1978 and acquired by the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in the same year. In 1984 he designed the tapestry ‘Evolving forms’, commissioned by the NGV to hang in the Great Hall.

Originally a suite of twelve small tapestries based on the work of Arts Projects Australia artist Julian Martin, this is an opportunity to collect these jewel-like miniature works based on Martin's original designs.
Woven as part of our Weaving Futures program in 2020, the very fine warp sett (threads per cm) render the subtle shifts in colour and chalky surface of the original pastel works.
Woven by Sue Batten, Chris Cochius, Tim Gresham and Pamela Joyce, sizes may vary.
