The Australian Tapestry Workshop’s (ATW) Tapestry Design Prize for Architects (TDPA) encourages innovation and visionary thinking by challenging architects to design contemporary tapestries. Join Peter Williams AM (architect, former ATW Chair, TDPA founder), John Wardle (architect, TDPA 2021 judge, TDPA 2015 joint winner), Diane Jones (architect, TDPA 2021 judge) and the winner of the 2021 prize Dr Emma Jackson (Ground Under Repair) as they discuss how contemporary tapestry can be used in modern interiors and architectural spaces.
Tapestry has been used historically for decorative and celebratory purposes, but also for functionality, and for thermal and acoustic benefits. The panel will discuss how these traditional attributes can be employed within a modern context and examine how contemporary tapestry can be used to enrich public and private space when designing interiors.
