Songs presents a new body of handwoven works by Desire Moheb-Zandi, an internationally exhibited textile artist whose practice centres on weaving as both a physical process and a conceptual framework.
Merging traditional techniques with contemporary sculptural approaches, she works primarily on the loom, combining natural fibres, botanically dyed yarns, and upcycled materials to create abstract works that explore memory, materiality, and slow, tactile rhythms through which structure and meaning emerge.
This series has been created on a floor loom through repetitive weaving, knotting, and wrapping. These tactile forms move between geometric structure and organic line. Extending beyond the wall, they occupy space as both textile and sculpture, expanding the material possibilities of weaving into new spatial territory.
The International Residency is generously supported by the Tapestry Foundation of Australia through the Hancock Fellowship, and our accommodation partners David and Patricia Wallage.
Desire Moheb-Zandi is represented by Wentrup Gallery, Berlin.
