This fun and informative workshop will introduce you to the world of paper textiles and show you how to use collage to make paper cloth.
Using scrap paper, fabric, and fashion magazines, you'll learn how to create layered compositions that blend texture, colour and pattern and explore the principles of collage. You'll create a quilted, hand-stitched square to take home or frame.

DNJ Paper is a collaborative research project and micro-label situated in Melbourne, Australia, and is led by designers Daphne Mohajer va Pesaran and Jake Nakashima-Edwards. The project employs a range of techniques, both traditional and non-traditional, to create paper clothing, accessories, and objects. Its creations aim to address contemporary fashion and textiles practices by responding to pressing social, aesthetic, and conceptual questions.
Daphne Mohajer va Pesaran (PhD) is a Designer and Program Manager of the Bachelor of Textiles (Design) in The School of Fashion and Textiles at RMIT University Melbourne, Australia. She is currently undertaking research fellowships for the British Museum and the Australian Museum to research the use of paper for clothing in Japan and the Pacific Islands.
Jake Nakashima-Edwards is a Designer, sessional lecturer at RMIT University Melbourne, Australia and is a graduate of the Fashion Design program at RMIT University. His current practice is centred around washi paper as a textile, and the connections this material has with people, culture, and nature.
