Jo Crase joined Australian Tapestry Workshop in mid-2025. She has worked in the museums, galleries and events sector for over 20 years, with extensive experience across curatorial projects, collection management, public art commissioning, arts festivals and event management. Jo is passionate about community cultural development, using participation in the Arts to promote social inclusion and self-determination for communities.
Jo has recently returned to Naarm/Melbourne after living and working across regional Australia for many years. She brings a strong cross-regional perspective and connections to the ATW community. As Program Coordinator, Jo curates ATW’s exhibitions, artists in residence and public engagement programs.
Her two favourite tapestries are the tapestry that was on the loom on her first day: Welcome to Country: now you see me – seeing the invisible (2025) designed by Maree Clarke (Yorta Yorta/Wamba Wamba/Mutti Mutti/Boonwurrung) and Mitch Mahoney (Boonwurrung/Barkindji); and Treasure Hunt (2018) designed by Guan Wei.
