Qualifications & Experience:
A certified fundraising professional with over 20 years experience in the non-profit sector, Margo Powell comes with an impressive background in fundraising across the arts, health and medical research and higher education. As Chief Advancement Officer, La Trobe University, Melbourne, she leads a large team that supports philanthropy and alumni engagement activity that align with the university’s education, research and community initiatives. Margo’s keen interest in the arts and culture have seen her lead the Gallery and Museums program at QUT and enjoy board roles with Metro Arts, artisan and Australian Tapestry Workshop.
Margo is active in the fundraising community—she enjoys her role as coach and mentor and frequently presents to non-profit boards on fundraising and philanthropy. As a CASE volunteer, she mentors graduate trainees who are keen to explore career pathways in Advancement. Margo consults independently to Positive Solutions and regularly hosts fundraising workshops and master classes. Margo is an active contributor to philanthropy conversations through panels, social media, journals and recently was a contributing author to the Book of the Board, 4th ed. Margo's wealth of expertise, strong network of global philanthropic donors, extensive fundraising skills, and post graduate qualifications are helping a number of new and experienced fundraisers establish winning solutions in increasingly complex environments.
