PRINT WEAVE MAKE were a series of open days held over three consecutive Saturdays in November 2012 at the Australian Tapestry Workshop, Australian Print Workshop and Craft Victoria, the three most prominent cultural organisations in Victoria that are connected directly to individual makers.
During the open days, visitors could take tours, participate in programs, and interact with renowned artists including printmakers, weavers and craftspeople. The open days provided a unique opportunity to witness how some of the best individual artworks are created.
During ATW's open day visitors were invited to explore the galleries, watch the weavers in action and browse in the gift shop. A hands-on weaving activity for children and guided tours was also be offered throughout the day.
Other highlights of the day included a discussion between artist Bern Emmerichs and ATW weaver Emma Sulzer about their collaboration on a new tapestry for Northern Hospital; an opportunity to meet ATW weaver Sue Batten and learn about the process of tapestry; as well as a talk by artist John Young about his experience working with the ATW.
PRINT WEAVE MAKE was supported by Arts Victoria’s Arts Marketing Innovation Fund.
