ATW is delighted to announce that the Tapestry Design Prize for Architects 2018 finalists and the tapestry 22 Temenggong Road, Twilight will be exhibited in Brisbane in March as part of the 2019 Asia Pacific Architecture Forum.
Join Antonia Syme, Director, Australian Tapestry Workshop (ATW) for an introduction to the exhibition of the Tapestry Design Prize for Architects 2018 Finalists. Justin Hill, Director, Kerry Hill Architects will then discuss his experiences collaborating with the ATW to create the ‘22 Temenggong Road, Twilight’ tapestry.
The Tapestry Design Prize for Architects 2018 finalists exhibition surveys the international response to David Walsh AO's challenging brief – to design a tapestry, which considers both geometry and chaos for the hypothetical site of Étienne-Louis Boullée's Cenotaph for Newton. This mooted building was the inspiration for the Fender Katsalidis Architects' Pharos Wing, Museum of Old and New Art.
This exhibition also features the recently completed 22 Temenggong Road, Twilight tapestry, designed by Singaporean based architect Justin Hill and first-prize winner of the Tapestry Design Prize for Architects 2016.
The Tapestry Design Prize for Architects 2018 is a partnership between the Australian Tapestry Workshop, MONA and Architecture Media.
This event is part of the Asia Pacific Architecture Forum, an initiative of Architecture Media and State Library of Queensland.
