Vale Jan Senbergs

The ATW was saddened to hear of the recent passing of Jan Senbergs, one of Australia's most prominent contemporary artists.

Senbergs was one of our earliest collaborating artists, beginning with with the 'West Melbourne' tapestry in 1979. Over the next decade he returned to collaborate with us on three subsequent projects.

With generosity and enthusiasm, Senbergs was part of a key group of artists who were integral to shaping the Australian approach to tapestry weaving.

The works and samples that derived from his collaboration with us contributed to the foundation of our creative dialogue between artist and weaver and resulted in the vibrant tapestries we are world renowned for.
