Vicki Mason is a Melbourne-based contemporary jeweller originally from New Zealand.
Her work references her passion for plants as subject. Interested in notions of place, belonging and the life cycle, Vicki uses plants as metaphors to represent these ideas. Plants native to Australia, exotic plants, plant forms found in the fine and decorative arts and plants used in gardens are just some sources referenced and researched. Botanical motifs have a long history within jewellery’s imagery so are a rich source for reinterpretation and investigation.
Vicki teaches in the adult education sector and in 2012 completed a Master of Philosophy degree in the Gold and Silversmithing at ANU in Canberra. She runs a production practice and makes work for exhibition. Mason has been awarded various grants and her work is held in both public and private collections.
