Join artist Aaron Billings for a Decorative Embroidery workshop at the ATW.
Aaron will teach a series of decorative embroidery stitches, including: chain stitch, lazy daisy, and pinwheels. Participants will create an abstract textile square with these stitches and ATW wool. If you wish, you can donate your sampler to Aaron for his next quilt project.
Aaron Billings is a Melbourne based textile and comic artist, and gallery manager at artist collective and studio space Pink Ember Studio. His quilt-making began as a process of repurposing scrap material and test screen prints from his time as a student at Monash University. Billings prints, illustrates, and embroiders his quilts to document and share his projections of a queer future; a nod to the folk-art of quilting, and its particular re-emergence during the AIDS epidemic.
