During their residency at the ATW in 2018, Melbourne-based design studio Alterfact took inspiration from the beaded surface texture and painterly colour work of hand-woven tapestries to develop a new collection of digitally printed ceramic vessels.
Alterfact returned to the ATW for Melbourne Design Week to work live onsite in an open bench setting. During this time they created new works using their large format clay 3d printer that further their forays into the threadlike techniques uncovered during their 2018 residency.
This informal presentation invited viewers to gain new insights and discuss the process of digital production processes in the context of hand woven textiles.
