Join ATW Artist in Residence and internationally renowned Peruvian textile artist Ana Teresa Barboza for an Open Studio & Knotting Workshop.
Participants are invited to meet Ana and learn more about her distinguished textile and weaving practice. Ana will be demonstrating a range of simple knotting techniques in this interactive event.
Ana Teresa Barboza lives and works in her native city of Peru. She studied painting in the Faculty of Art at Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PCUP). She has developed a signature style that incorporates traditional textile techniques including embroidery, patchwork, knitting and weaving with digital photography into works that exist in the space between tapestry and sculpture. Her work spans lyrical renderings of landscape, fantastical creatures and depictions of plants and their growth which defy and reflect upon our industrialized times.
Ana Teresa Barboza’s residency is supported by the City of Port Phillip AIR Scholarship that provides up to $3000 of accommodation within the City of Port Phillip.
