Window Gazing is a small exhibition of work by Kin Workshop in the windows of the Australian Tapestry Workshop (ATW). The exhibition seeks to activate the street front of the ATW’s South Melbourne gallery windows. The exhibition can be viewed from the street by the casual passerby and is also open for up close viewing during the ATW’s opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday 1-5pm.
The Australian Tapestry Workshop is an internationally renowned not-for-profit visual arts organisation with a global reputation for creating contemporary handwoven tapestries. Their South Melbourne tapestry workshop, open studio, colour laboratory and galleries are a creative hub for engagement with tapestry, textiles and contemporary art.
Kin Workshop is an emerging craft workshop with an interest in the sculptural potential of textiles. Isabel Deakin is the creator of Kin Workshop. Kin Workshop designs are inspired by the traditional craft of patchwork and informed by Isabel’s architectural training.
