An afternoon of free demonstrations, workshops and talks with the artists from our exhibition ‘Place Makers’.
POP UP ARTIST TALKS: 1pm – Lisa Waup will reflect on how her Gunditjmara and Torres Strait Islander heritage is expressed through basket weaving. 2pm – Yunuen Pérez will explore how the Mexican traditional stories of her childhood are illustrated through textiles. 3pm – Ema Shin will discuss how her anatomical and botanical tapestry forms explore cultural heritage, sexuality and femininity.
DROP IN WORKSHOPS: 1–4pm Somalian finger weaving with Muhubo Suleiman and Nudo (knotting) workshop with Paula do Prado.
DEMONSTRATIONS: 1.30–2pm Bush Animals demonstration with Gunditjmara weaver Bronwyn Razem. 2–4pm Tapestry weaving demonstration with Karen weaver Mu Naw Poe with talk by mentor Sara Lindsay at 2.30pm.
