Supported by Arnold Hancock through the Tapestry Foundation of Australia, the Hancock Fellowship was established to bring international artists in tapestry, textile and design to visit the Australian Tapestry Workshop (ATW) and share their expertise through workshops, lectures and exhibition whilst learning about contemporary art and creative industries in Australia.
The Hancock Fellowship, named in honour of former ATW Chairman Arnold Hancock OBE, demonstrates the ATW’s commitment to strengthening engagement with the international arts community, and promoting Australia’s creative talent to audiences worldwide.
In 2024, the Hancock Fellowship was awarded to Bangalore based artist, Abishek Ganesh Jayashree who practices under the name Kaimurai who is also recipient of the Irene Davies International Residence Scholarship and joining the ATW during June/July.
Past Hancock Fellows have included Pae White (USA, 2017), Reiko Sudo (Japan, 2015), Beverly Gordon (USA, 2014) and Dr Elizabeth Taburet-Delahaye (France, 2010).
